To know a SoCal beach is to look past the surfboards, towels, and lifeguards. It is to absorb and acknowledge all the inner workings of what makes a beach a beach, to distinguish its unique organisms. Whether large or microscopic, both have an important role to play. This book will go over the specific organisms, biodiversity, and human impacts of some of the SoCal beaches, to truly question and explore our local intertidal zones. The purpose of this book is to open the people to knew ideologies as to what the beach really is. Allowing the beach to be seen beyond its fun atmosphere and pretty views, and showing it as a home for the masses of creatures we often forget are there.
