Managing Risks to Employees on Overseas Assignments

Paul Barker who from 1997 to 2002 was the Group Head Security for BG Group PLC submitted this study during the dissertation phase of his Master's Degree. By comparing the perception of crime experienced by BG Plc international workers at two uniquely different locations, Sao Paulo in Brazil and Cairo in Egypt, he has produced a unique and insightful text into this previously under explored area. Understanding the concerns and the agenda's of international workers is primary in developing the right attitude to security awareness and therefore 'contributory or self preservation', which reinforces the effectiveness of a company's risk mitigation strategies.
