Armed with a box drum, a not-quite-finished show, and absolutely no transport plan, Paul S. Richards sets off on a chaotic, low-budget UK tour to prove that unconventional comedy still has a place in the backrooms of cafes, village halls, and anywhere with a plug socket. This is the story of one man’s relentless pursuit of an audience — any audience — even if it means getting stuck on a train with 23 children, performing for people who expected 'proper' jokes, or shouting his heart out to a pub in Yorkshire before running off mid-set because, well, things just didn't work out. Spanning one increasingly desperate national tour, a dream-on-the-verge-of-working Edinburgh Fringe run, and a post-pandemic return to chaos, Let My Struggle Be Your Entertainment is a painfully honest, often hilarious, and unexpectedly moving insight into the life of a creative who refuses to give up — even when the venue forgets to tell anyone he’s coming.
