Mind Your Own Business on Job Sites

While shepherding a building project from its beginning to its end, there are numerous tasks that must be done. These specific responsibilities are generally well-known and widely recognized throughout history. What might not be as widely recognized is the precise allocation of responsibility among key participants involved in most projects. Neglecting to comprehend boundaries and adhering to appropriate roles can lead to significant risks and confusion during a project. The AIA's standard agreement forms, used in numerous construction projects, can be valuable tools. These forms often include or reference the General Conditions of the Contract. Collectively, these documents outline the roles and responsibilities of three primary participants engaged in a building project. The purpose of this course is to not only clarify the responsibilities of owners, architects and contractors in their respective job roles but also to clarify what is expected of them by other team members. By setting clear and accurate expectations, we can greatly minimize any misunderstandings, dissatisfaction, or disagreements that arise during a project.
