The origins of the JASDF, JMSDF and JGSDF that against all the odds and lack of funds post-WW II with the help of the USA and the licensed production of the US fixed combat and rotary-winged types of the era and an indigenous flying-boat provided the vital air defense for the four main islands that are Japan.
