
Are You Talking To Me? looks at how increasingly personalized advertising creates increasingly depersonalized spaces within our cities. Going from the emergent mass media of the nineteenth century to more subtly direct forms of advertisements, where the individual consumer is targeted and seemingly addressed personally, this dissertation looks at how public space has been invaded and pervaded by these 'personal' communications.
