MCHALE’S NAVY was a hysterically funny television show that ran for four hilarious seasons (1962-1966). The show followed the misadventures of the crew of the ship, PT-73. The crew was led by the Skipper Quinton McHale, played by the great Ernest Borgnine. Comedy legend Tim Conway portrayed his hapless ensign Charles Parker and the actor Joe Flynn played the crew’s nemesis Captain Binghamton. Since MCHALE’S NAVY was a successful show, it was only a matter of time until it was adapted to comics. In May of 1963 Dell comics published the first of what would be a three-issue comic book series with artwork by Henry Scarpelli. Sixty years later McHale’s Navy and “The Zaniest Crew That Ever Manned a PT Boat” is still a fun comic book series to read.
