This novel starts out with Joshua, the commander of Israel's armies, being the first recorded Jew to ever confront Arabs for land. But who are the Arabs and what was his influence upon them? His Hebrew conquest had an effect on their national psyche in a way that caused them to eventually embrace Christendom in some parts, which resulted in a cultural battle called Islam centuries later. And to the astonishment of some Arabs, segments of the chosen people even dared to call themselves Arabs, but that was usually made known in subtle ways. So here it is: the glory of Arabia, the push and pull of Arabians, the beauty and harshness of their deserts, and the wildness and exotic nature of their scholarship - all under the watchful eye of the God who cares. Get ready to be surprised! (Images in the book are courtesy of the author's collection; the cover is the painting called 'Joshua Commanding the Sun to Stand Still upon Gibeon' by John Martin.)
