Under A Mackerel Sky

The script explores what happens with the removal of everyday assumptions, props and values and the resulting journey of self-discovery: When Jack, a young surveyor who craves a life of travel without commitment, finds himself back in the seventeenth century, his initial shock gives way to frustration as he realises that he never understood enough about the modern world to explain a single important invention or big idea. Consoling himself, instead, with the introduction of pizza, football and pool, Jack soon begins to enjoy his new life and finds himself falling in love with Mary, the local innkeeper’s daughter. However, he makes a powerful enemy along the way. With the outbreak of disease, Jack is finally forced to make a choice: either stand up and fight for what he believes in; or avoid confrontation and let everybody down.
