Crete 2008 - Sheffield University Speleological Society

In 2006 Sheffield University Speleological Society (SUSS) organized their first exploratory caving expedition to the White Mountains of Crete for 25 years. In total the expedition lasted 1 month, with most of the 19 person strong team at base camp for more than half the time. In the course of the expedition over 200 cave entrances were GPS located and fully explored. At the end of the trip only two of these caves had ongoing leads that the team would need to return to explore. However only half of the valley was explored in the time they were there, so a return trip was in the planning even before they left.
