My Father, The Poet

Nish Collins wrote poems for The Daily News for 14 years, publishing well over 3,000 poems during that time. His "Rhymes of the Times" feature was very popular and featured his commentary on a variety of subjects. Ron Collins began collecting his father's poetry in 1997. His intention was to collect all of the poems which had been published in the Daily News into one complete collection. Having completed one-third of the task, he has compiled this collection of just over 100 outstanding poems from 1970-1974, and offered his own personal insights into both the poems and the poet, his father. Part biography, part personal insight, with lots of poems, this book is a unique look at Newfoundland in the 1970s through the eyes of one of its greatest poets.
