The Wrong Side of Morning

What motivates the devil? Why does he act the way he does? Keaton and Laurel learn to their horror that not only does he have a rational reason, it necessitates continued attempts on his part to change history, to try to make it turn out differently than it did. The Devil knows his destiny and it terrifies him. Like a prisoner on death row, his situation appears hopeless, but he refuses to give up, and so all his energies, all his actions, are predicated on the single obsessive goal: how to escape his fate. And Keaton and Laurel will discover that they are central players in his current plan, which involves changing history. The Devil figures that in a universe of infinite alternative timelines, surely one of them can turn out in his favor. And being immortal, and with a time machine at his disposal, he now has all the time in the world to try to find it.
