A Small Price to Pay

One mission too many for Gus Bell ended his career as an agent of the British government's clandestine Terror Response Section. What had seemed to be a simple assassination of a hard-line Belfast Provisional IRA commander had backfired and left him with a twelve-year-old girl on his conscience. Eight years on he is languishing as a bored private investigator in London when out of the blue his former controller calls to ask for a favour: to find the missing daughter of a high-ranking official from Washington. As Bell unravels a blackmail plot intended to breach government security he is drawn ever more deeply into a dangerous web of deceit and intrigue where things are never quite what they seem. With lives at stake he is caught in a race against time that takes him from London to Northern Ireland via the American Southeast and forces him to confront the spectre of his past. But is it a race that he can win? Advisory: this book contains limited strong language and suggestive scenes.
