
This is a retrospective of the enamel art of Jane Glass. Catharine Jane Glass was born in Ames Iowa Aug 31, 1919. She graduated from the Iowa State University (1942) with a B.S. in Applied Art and her Masters of Fine Art from Columbia University (1949). Ms. Glass taught at Radford College and taught jewelry making at the University of Tennessee summer program in Gatlinburg TN. Ms. Glass emphasis was metal work, one summer she taught with Kenneth Bates learning Enameling from “The Father of Enameling”. Ms Glass mastered the craft and the art of enameling. In 1953 Ms Glass decided to stay in Gatlinburg at the end of summer school beginning her career as a studio artist in the art of producing enamels. Her work can be found in the permanent collection of The Southern Highlands Craft Guild and Arrowmont School of Crafts.
