Putting the past back where it belongs

I was bullied throughout the entirety of my time at secondary school; basically I was singled out for being different. I never spoke up partly because I didn’t realise there was anyone I could speak to and also because I was made to feel worthless and therefore why should anyone ever listen to me. My defence mechanism was simply put your head down, stay quiet and don’t draw attention to yourself (not very nice is it). Don’t get me wrong there have been good times but whenever I’ve felt insecure or unsafe over the last 12 years or so and felt that the same thing is happening again that trusty defence mechanism has come into service. The trouble was that with this defence mechanism came the memories from the past as well. This is my story and believe me you will come to understand that all of these events both good and bad really did happen.
