Pillaged

Mary arrived at a certain block where all houses in both sides were deserted. She knew she would not last long if she ran and the police might catch her. She had money for fair but she was afraid that the policemen were still on the street where they left their car on. She decided to pick a house and sleep the night there – she wasn’t afraid. She was stoned, no stoned person is afraid of anything. She found a house with broken windows and the door hanging ajar. It was dark inside. She tiptoed inside making sure she didn’t make a sound. In her drunken state though it didn’t make any difference. It sounded like she was just shuffling trash around her feet. Everything around her seemed dusty, she began coughing. She went upstairs and found a room with a used mattress, a dirty mattress lying on the floor. With planning remarkable for a drunk, she used the mattress to wipe the immediate area below it clean of dust then lay down on her back, on the floor.
