Things That Go Bump In The Night

BySarah Smith

Carla sat on the bed her back to the wall. The blanket was soaked with her sweat though the glass pane was frosted. The blanket was pulled up to her shoulders, pillows on her sides. Her brown eyes darted across the heavily lit room, every corner, every side, everything had been checked, double checked and rechecked over again – there was nothing. Her eyes did not see anything, her nose did not pick up any foreign scent, her ears did not hear any sound, and she did not even feel that anything was moving. There was nothing – that was the problem, there was absolutely nothing. It was during times like this that her fear ascended to ever increasing heights. It happened a week ago. After coming to her dorm room from a late night at the campus she immediately went in and plopped on the bed. She turned over as she was on her stomach and her big breasts were acting like mediators between her and the bed. She had forgotten that she had not even closed the door. As if she had telekinesis the door slowly shut itself
