Nine Months in Nairobi

Who has not imagined packing the bags and moving to a faraway land for the adventure of a lifetime? Nine Months in Nairobi is the story of a family who actually does it. When the Turners move from Alabama to Kenya, little do they anticipate the dangers, challenges, and often hilarious mishaps awaiting them. With two young children in tow, the parents struggle to live ordinary lives in an extraordinary environment. Their almost daily experiences of culture shock run the gamut: from cockroaches to conmen, violent riots to glorious safaris, and Maasai warriors to Muslim transvestites. Along the way, they discover the awesome beauty of a country and its people, and learn that sometimes the secret to swimming against a tide is simply letting go.
