A Poem To Myself
When you read this
it will be said
that many years ago
you were there.
And yet
I am here.
There.
Now.
Because of these words
I am trapped there.
Here.
Forever.
And though you may reach back with your mind
and stretch out your hand to me
I can not grasp it.
I can not see it.
I am not here.
There.
Ever.
Now.
Oh, how I long to be with you
To share these words,
To chat with you about them
and the time from which they come.
But it shall never be.
My day is there
and yours
here.
Even if I were there now
This is your day,
and that
was mine.
