‘Whimsical Magazine, Tales Of Portraits... Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Additionally to awesome and unique editorial or commercial portraits, every issue will consist of interviews and articles spotlighting talents, from every part of the world, who will inspire every photography and image enthusiast and stimulate you to excel in your art,in order to make you live your passion more completely. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Introducing Lana... ‘I know how the parts of life we value most seem to fly by in the blink of an eye. My mission is to capture the love you share, the daily expressions of joy and the beauty of the ordinary in a soulful and timeless way.’ Svitlana Plyhun is the photographer behind the lens. She has been a hobby photographer for many years before finally deciding to create her own small business where she now works as a freelance photographer. ‘Photography is a big part of my life and I can’t avoid taking pictures on weekdays or weekends.’ People being a huge part of her photography vision, Lana decided to focus mainly on portraits, creating a very personal storytelling around portrait photography. ‘Part of my interests is to photograph people who do work and those who follow their dreams.’ Her multicultural roots and history are not without reason in her taste for the diversity of human nature. Indeed, born in Ukraine and currently living in Denmark for 20 years, Lana has traveled and lived in different countries with her family. ‘In addition to Ukraine, the long-standing relations were with Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Indonesia and, of course, Denmark. In all countries I was out with my camera and I used my skills as a photographer to help with various projects as a volunteer photographer.’ While in Afghanistan, Lana also worked with clothing designer and took business portraits for an international organization in different countries. She then settled several exhibitions in Pakistan and Indonesia. ‘It was a special experience! In Ukraine I have been really happy to be part of the project about Ukrainian craftsman and artists and I wanted to continue, but unfortunately the war changed the plans…’ Having chosen Denmark to found his portrait photography company, since then, Lana has the opportunity to focus on her photography career.
