Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Additionally to awesome and unique editorial or commercial portraits, every issue will consist of interviews and articles spotlighting talents, from every part of the world, who will inspire every photography and image enthusiast and stimulate you to excel in your art, in order to make you live your passion more completely. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Hayley Hay is a British social photographer living in the beautiful city of Lausanne. Although her work covers a diverse range of subjects, she mainly focuses on photographing people, and children in particular. Indeed, she’s a true believer in capturing life’s most authentic moments in an unobtrusive manner so that she can create natural images that stand the test of time : ‘If a photoshoot isn’t simple, fun, and natural, the photos won’t make the cut. My primary focus is to make everyone feel at ease. Kids should play. Families should adventure. And locations should be fun! I start with a good understanding of what kind of images a client is looking for, then work back from there in terms of location, lighting, angles, time of day and much more.’ According to Hayley, photography is so much more than just taking a picture. It’s a look, a feeling, a connection : ‘It’s a human moment. Whether I’m photographing newborns, families, the beauty of pregnancy, or individual headshots, I seek to capture people through my lens in a natural, documentary style that reflects the authenticity of the moment. I don’t take the privilege of being welcomed into your life lightly. In fact, I love and treasure every moment of it.
