‘Whimsical Magazine, Tales Of Portraits... Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Additionally to awesome and unique editorial or commercial portraits, every issue will consist of interviews and articles spotlighting talents, from every part of the world, who will inspire every photography and image enthusiast and stimulate you to excel in your art, in order to make you live your passion more completely. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Mary Otanez is the photographer behind the lens. Growing up with a family full of women, Mary has always been surrounded with females who embody bravery, resiliency, and love. Indeed, though Mary and her family weathered a few storms in their lives, their continued support for one another allowed to empower each of them to blossom in life : ‘I am proud to have been shaped with such female support and now, my passion has grown to focus on empowering women through my photography. Giving both mothers and business owners imagery that can share their story beautifully and authentically.’ After having been graduated over 15 years ago with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography & Film from VCU, Mary started her career as an Art Producer for The Martin Agency in Richmond, Virginia. There, she produced print ads for some of the top brands such as Nespresso, Walmart, Geico, Hanes, and many more. During her years as a producer, she orchestrated some incredible productions with some of the top photographers and celebrities worldwide. In 2013, Mary started her business officially and sine then, has never looked back : ‘I absolutely love the creative process of business ownership and building a brand that is my own. I embrace the constant growth and love tweaking the business model to better serve my families. Over the years, I have built beautiful relationships (and friendships) with my clients and witnessed the most beautiful chapters of their lives.
