The Californiad

Wildlife biologist Wayne Bremmer, an expert in the flora and fauna of California, is having a bad summer. He breaks up with his wife, loses his job, and ingests too much laboratory cyanide and strawberry margarita during a field study in the Sonny Bono National Wildlife Refuge. The result is a dazed adventure, an epic tour of the state to map its endangered ecology. During his quest, Wayne runs afoul of a greedy developer (who also happens to be his ex-mother-in-law), a corrupt environmental engineering firm and Nazi surfers. To survive, our hero must reconcile his love of nature with his need for human love and understanding. Each purchase of The Californiad contributes ONE DOLLAR to the National Audubon Society.
