Lost
First book of trilogy: “Les and Daniel”
Auschwitz, then Communism, oppression, terror in both.
Homosexual love of two cousins. One returns from Auschwitz.
The author uses feelings, experiences that he lived through in youth.
The love that sees this couple through the sufferings and dangers, he wishes, he had.
Some of the images that he writes of are very close to his heart.
The lovers help others. One young man, Jake, also out of Auschwitz, is a gypsy.
He, though not homosexual, becomes like a back up to their own feelings of outrage against injustices. They become a threesome, fighting for justice.
Though they all live in fear, they help others, without faltering.
They feel lost in the atrocities of the past and the present, but they feel hope,
as they keep winning through. Yet they fear, how long they can survive dangers.
