Globalists and Nationalists

On January 1, 1992 President George H.W. Bush, speaking before Congress, proclaimed the victory of the United States in the Cold War, and the preminence of America as the only global super-power. In this he was proclaiming nothing else than the sober truth, as the American-dominated and regulated era of democracy and globalization came into being. The problem inherent in his words did not lie in their being false, but in their being proud, triumphalist. And since pride always comes before a fall, America’s fall from sole superpower status as the leader of the free, democratic and increasingly globalist world began to follow, reaching its first climax a decade later in the bombing of the Twin Towers in New York on September 11, 2001, that spectacular symbol and sign of the impending fall of the democratizing and globalizing world. This pride and fall – or the Fall of Democratic Capitalism, of which America is the mainstay - is one of the two main subjects of this book.
