Truly Pertinent Questions

Author of three compelling anthologies—In My Heart...On My Mind, The Root of My Affection, and Truly Pertinent Questions—Wayne D. Russell is an educator, researcher, poet, songwriter, and producer whose pragmatic voice is unmistakable. His writing, at once brusque and alluring, urges readers to confront the esoteric with unflinching honesty. Russell characterizes his poetry as political, provocative, and unapologetically direct—transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. His work invites readers to discover elegance in simplicity and encourages them to boldly face the unfamiliar. Guiding his audience through a winding journey of their own constructed realities, Russell challenges them to explore the hazy borders of imagination. This quasi-spiritual introspection lies at the core of his literary vision and lends profound depth to his body of work. Beyond poetry, Wayne D. Russell serves as a Mathematics lecturer and researcher at Medgar Evers College of The City University of New York. He has presented innovative academic work across national and international platforms. He is also the CEO of EduSols LLC, a New York–based research firm, and the Executive Director and principal songwriter of LyricSurge Records, an independent music label operating out of New York and Ft. Lauderdale.
