Gouge first sets out what children owe their parents: reverence, seeking their consent, obedience to their instruction and correction, and repaying them in their old age, all "in the Lord." He then turns to what parents owe their children: love and prayer, provision and nursing, teaching and training, loving correction, and guidance into a calling and a marriage.
