Domestical Duties: Volume 4
The Seventh and Eighth Treatises: Of Servants and Masters
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The last volume of Of Domestical Duties (1622) opens with Gouge's exposition of Ephesians 6:5–9. It then treats the duties of servants to their masters (reverence, obedience, and faithful, willing service, within the limits God sets) and of masters to their servants (just authority, care for body and soul, fair work and wages). Throughout, Gouge reminds both that they serve one Master in heaven. Much of it speaks directly to employers and employees today. This edition gives the 1622 text with modernized spelling and Gouge's own wording. Volume IV of four.
