Made in America?

The recession is over, but the economy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania never recovered. The race for global economic dominance has been decided—China has won. It’s now 2015 and a large Chinese auto company, ignoring the affront to the people of Pittsburgh, has built an auto factory where the steel mills were once located. Young Cole Edwards wants to become become an engineer, but his degreed father, finding no engineering job, works as a foreman in the Chinese auto parts factory. Should Cole follow his father into the factory or go to Carnegie Mellon University and pursue his dream? Influenced by his father, Cole, believes China’s success is unfair. Cole’s anger toward the Chinese is challenged when he begins dating the “enemy,” Qiang Li, the daughter of the auto plant manager. Dating her starts with a small lie; soon his whole family is lying, each for their own reason. Everything Cole believes about the Chinese people, how to love, and how to make your way in this new-world economy is proven wrong.
