To Last Forever

The stars sparkled particularly bright that evening, shining so close that one could almost reach out and touch them as the wind carried them away. Riley didn’t touch the stars. They weren’t hers. No, the stars belonged to the sky. Riley knew better than anyone that the stars had their own lives that she’d never know of. More than that, Riley knew stories of the people living on the stars. She knew that there were cities and farms and villages on the fiery masses. It was only logical to assume that others had populated the expanse of space.
