"Kingdoms and empires pass away like mist from the sea,
thought Turlogh; the people shout and triumph
and even in the revelry of Belshazzar’s feast,
the Medes break the gates of Babylon.
Even now the shadow of doom is over this city
and the slow tides of oblivion lap the feet of this unheeding race."
-- Robert E. Howard: The Gods of Bal-Sagoth
Kingdoms rise, and kingdoms fall. The struggle between civilization and barbarism repeats forever, in cycles of glory, splendor, blood, and ashes.
On an island in the Sea of Urul, the Sacred Kings of Alantha have long since conquered and driven away the barbarians, but corruption and decadence festers, threatening to plunge this once-great civilization into the depths of oblivion.
Will you save the last kings of Alantha, or will you join the pillage and destruction of the kingdom?
"Last Kings of Alantha" is a stand-alone sword and sorcery adventure module, written as an homage to Robert E. Howard's short story "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth", which has it all: swords, sorcery, intrigue, mystery, monsters, and themes of civilization versus barbarism. And of course, lots of treasure to loot!
Written for 5E and usable with any old-school sword & sorcery ruleset.
Suggested character levels: 4-6
