William I. Wickham is a retired economist. He graduated from Edinburgh University in both economics and law in 1961 and 1964 respectively, his formal qualifications being MA ( Hons ), LLB. During the course of his career he worked as an economist for various financial institutions, including the former Midland Bank Ltd. ( Head Office ), the Moscow Narodny Bank, the Sun Alliance Insurance Group and from 1972 to 1987 he was the Senior Economist of the Standard Life Assurance Company. From time to time he was also employed as a teacher and tutor in West Sussex in Business Studies and Economics, in English and GCSE Mathematics. In 1997 he spent a month in Siberia where he was engaged in teaching English to Russian school children. This visit is described in detail in his book Sojourn in Siberia published in 2014. This site is dedicated to the author's wife Anna, his daughter Annette, her husband Donal and their delightful young daughter Serena who was born on 9 August, 2011.
