Fencing coach and founding member of Club d'Esgrima Xàtiva. John Jakelsky has practiced fencing for over 20 years, competed in national competitions in the United States and Spain earning medals in both. He earned a USFA "A" rating in 2010 and has represented the USA in international competitions. He is the current champion of the Valencian Community and a licensed coach from the Spanish Fencing Federation. Throughout his career he has practised FMA, SCA, kendo, and is currently involved in HEMA, specifically Spanish military saber. He hopes to create more interest in the teaching of this type of fencing to not only the general public but to children as well, having developed a safe training saber to be used in schools and camps.
