The two books I've written, The Jinx and Three Dreams Deep, have some fancy-pants inspirations - poetry, paintings, literature - but the main ones are my own dreams and 1930’s-type adventure stories for young readers - fast moving, pulpy, lots of suspense, cliff hangers. When it comes to reading, or movies, I like art that conveys the sense of a whole world. I like to be delighted, surprised, and convinced that what I am seeing is real. I like Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey / Maturin series, Robert Van Gulik's Judge Dee books, and children's literature classics like The Lord of the Rings, Watership Down, and Swallows and Amazons. I live in Manitoba with my wife and children.
