Deborah Stokes lives in London with her husband and children. Deborah has a personal interest in World War I. As with so many families, her family was touched by that devastating conflict. Her great grandfather died fighting for his country in 1917. His body was never found. His son Leslie, her grandfather, and his brothers, were brought up in poverty by his widowed mother on a War Widow's pension, without the support and love of a father. The sense of loss was always there. Although it was 100 years ago, the sadness and waste of a generation lost, still ripples down to us now.
