About the author: With a degree in English and history/Secondary Education from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and an M. A. in English/history from the University of Texas, Austin, Martha Jane (“MJ”) McMurray Wofford was well-equipped to teach English and social studies in high schools and community colleges in Texas and Arizona. However, after taking classes at Arizona universities mid-way through her career, she found her true love: teaching English as a Second Language. Realizing that students were more engaged, felt more secure, and simply learned more when they were doing “hands on” projects before writing, she designed numerous pre-writing projects for them. Then, she, like many of her students, got sentimental and wanted to save the projects – and she did! Now, she has photographed them. Thus, this book has been created including lesson plans for tomorrow!
