Greg Williamson
Greg Williamson is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator. A specialist in the genre of jazz, he has spent the last few years formalizing his research and education skills by assistant-directing jazz bands and guest lecturing in jazz history and percussion pedagogy at Central Washington University. During that time he also gained a Masters Degree in Percussion Performance and Jazz Pedagogy. His earlier road training found him with the big bands of Woody Herman, Glenn Miller, and Harry James. His in-between years have been spent performing jazz with the likes of Ernestine Anderson, Steve Allen, and leading his own quartet and big band. He promotes and instigates jazz projects through Pony Boy Records and JazzClubsNW. Many of Greg’s students have participated in Essentially Ellington finals presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. Greg appears on many recordings, including Scenes and Voyages, Oo-Bop, and Conversations and Deconstructions.
