Khalsa Spirit Foundation is all about promoting Sikh Music and Sikh Music Education. I am a lifelong musician and music teacher. I have played trombone in many professional orchestras and jazz bands and have directed many award-winning public school bands, Band and Applied Brass at the college level in the US. I am a member of 3HO/Sikh Dharma and have a Masters in Ethnomusicology from The University of London in Indian Classical and Sikh Music. My wife, Kudrat Kaur, and I have studied Gurbani Kirtan with many of the masters of Sikh music - Bhai Avtar Singh, Daya Singh, Ustaad Narinder Singh, Bhai Kultar Singh, Ustaad Surjit Singh (Saarangi) Aulakh, and Raj Academy in London. We are also supporters of the Chardi Kalaa Jathaa and Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar. It is our mission to support Sikh music education everywhere with study resources, books, and eventually video classes and workshops. Someday we hope to see a Punjab Philharmonic and Khalsa Spirit marching band, too!
