Changels Genesis is probably the largest debut novel ever written. At over 670,000 words it is larger than Lord of the Rings. Author Peter King however is no stranger to writing, having been a journalist for over three decades. "The story never got away on me. Nor have I ever worried about cutting fat. I just didn't realise how large it actually was when I planned it." he says. The giant novel is a story by a 14 year old Maori boy who Police think is a tragic victim of a house fire, having already once been the tragic victim of a domestic violence. But Sam is neither tragic, nor a victim. He has a job to do because if he doesn't he'll end up aboard a UFO having his brain extracted. "Changels is a global action adventure, romance, paranormal set on Earth between 2007 and 2009. It has authentic weather, tides and world events. I wanted to weave YA fantasy with the news. I think it works," Peter says. On the way the story looks at minorities of all kinds from around the world.
