Stephen Starkie was born in Bolton, Lancashire and has been writing since his childhood. Seriously ill, at the age of seven, and expected to die, in a night vision he saw Jesus, who gave him a pen. Fully recovered the next day, he has written ever since. He had a tortured childhood and difficult adolescence, being married and divorced by the age of 21. Stephen is a typical product of the permissive age of the 60's and 70's, and only at the age of 32 did he make a sudden life change and become a radical Christian. Stephen has been a Community Theatre Director, a philosophy graduate, a kiss-a-gram, a pastor, a travelling poet at the age of 18, and dabbled in politics, witchcraft and carnal pleasures, before accepting Christ. Influenced by the Metaphysical Poets, the Mersey Poets and Leonard Cohen, his poems are therapy, prophetic, the mercy and romance of God, the musings of a lover, the compassion of a pastor, the concerns of a father. He now lives on the border of Wales.
