Austin Mardon
Austin Mardon is a publisher, writer and speaker based in Edmonton, Alberta. Mardon was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1992. A year after being diagnosed, he enrolled at Greenwich University in Australia for a PhD in geography. Mardon received his doctorate degree eight years later. To this day, he is a strong advocate for the mentally ill and has published 50 books and 260 articles. Since then, he has received the Honorary Degree from the University of Alberta, and the University of Lethbridge. In 2014 Mardon was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Canada. He is married to Catherine Mardon, and he has a basset hound named Gandy.
