Alan turned 77 in early 2026 and took up writing short stories and poems as a hobby in 2019. He now has 17 books published and more being worked on. Alan is a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with 59 years of experience across a broad range of military and civil aircraft. He is licensed on all light aircraft and helicopters and several turbine engines. His work has covered “hands-on” maintenance to management roles on both helicopters and fixed-wing types, in Regular Passenger Transport to private operations, both domestic and international. In addition to his current Australian license, he held a Malaysian civil license. Until the end Oct 2024 Alan held a Civil Aviation Safety Authority instrument to issue Certificates of Airworthiness (Import & Export) on any aircraft and has since he gained this (2005), issued over 125 in Australia with a few overseas. He issued the first Light Sport Aircraft CoA in Australia. He has also issued 189 aircraft valuations since 2005. As a Certified ISO9002 Lead Auditor, Alan has performed safety/risk assessment and compliance audits for various clients domestically and overseas.
