A Modern Languages graduate, Alastair worked alongside his father, Iain Reid, Chief Designer at Airship Industries in the late 1970's and early 1980's before becoming a helicopter pilot. Now retired, he continues to take an active interest in aviation in general and airship history in particular, and has translated numerous rare, long out of print German texts.
