About
Classic Comics Press

Classic Comics Press is an independent publishing company dedicated to preserving and reprinting classic, beautifully illustrated newspaper comic strips from the golden and silver ages of American comics. Founded in 2006 and operated by editor and publisher Charles Pelto, the venture began as a dedicated labor of love to rescue culturally significant but largely overlooked masterworks of comic art from obscurity. Since 2006 Classic Comics Press has carved out a distinct niche by meticulously archiving and reprinting long-running, narrative-driven soap opera and adventure strips. Classic Comics Press is best known for its comprehensive, high-quality collections of definitive works, including: • Leonard Starr’s Mary Perkins On Stage – A critically acclaimed strip celebrating the dramatic world of theater and show business. • Stan Drake’s The Heart of Juliet Jones – Renowned for its unparalleled photorealistic line work and sophisticated melodrama. • Frank Godwin’s Connie – A groundbreaking adventure strip that evolved from flapper comedy into sci-fi exploration. • Other Essential Archives – The publisher's catalog includes collections of Al Capp and Raeburn Van Buren's Abbie an' Slats, Rusty Riley, and The Cisco Kid.
