Richard Baldwin Cook
Writer, editor and former lawyer, Cook's books are published by NativaBooks (Nativa LLC). Mr. Cook is a "former" lawyer, after being suspended from the practice of law for reporting the documented, ethical misconduct of a federal district judge. "According to the ethical rules, which govern the behavior of every licensed attorney, a lawyer 'shall' report a judge's misconduct to supervising judges. When I discovered the federal judge presiding over my clients' matter was accepting gifts and bending procedural rules to benefit the gift-givers, I reported him. I also asked him to recuse himself from my clients' case. For reporting the judge and trying to protect my clients and myself from him, I was suspended from the practice of law in Louisiana, Hawai'i and Maryland. These state court judges preferred to wreck the career of an officer of their own court rather than conduct an investigation into the misdeeds of a federal judge." (For details, see Cook's MAY IT PLEASE THE COURT.)
