Craig Maki is the author of three ground-breaking volumes that reveal some of Detroit's important yet under-covered influences on American music history — "Handsome Victory" (Wax Hound Press, 2025) — "Tomorrow Brings Memories: Detroit’s First Underground Record Company" (Wax Hound Press, 2022 — AVAILABLE ON LULU.COM), and "Detroit Country Music: Mountaineers, Cowboys, and Rockabillies" with Keith Cady (University of Michigan Press, 2013). He also contributed to "Heaven Was Detroit: From Jazz to Hip-Hop and Beyond" (Wayne State University Press, 2016). Maki wrote liner notes for Ricky Riddle "I’m A Whip-Cracking’ Daddy" (British Archive of Country Music (U.K.), BACM CD 644, 2019. Compact disc.), Jack Earls "Slow Down, The Sun Years, Plus" (Bear Family (Germany), BCD 16935, 2010. Compact disc.), Jimmy Kirkland "Cool Daddy" (Rollercoaster Records (U.K.), RCCD 3054, 2007. Compact disc.), and has furnished pieces to music magazines such as American Music (Sweden), and Blue Suede News (U.S.A.). Maki enjoys playing music, collecting old records, art, design, and history.
