David “Scott” Fields II was raised in the farming community of Prineville, Oregon, where long summer walks through the surrounding countryside first sparked his love of storytelling. At age eight, he wrote his first story, Green Elephant, and by fourth grade had created Sparkey Moonbeam, a young talking bear cub from the icy planet Staranana. What began as childhood adventures on the playground eventually became Scott’s Chronicles of the Imagination series. Inspired by authors such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Rudyard Kipling, Scott published Chronicles of the Imagination: Staranana in 2006. The series has since grown to include Lizard Face, Old Covenant, New Covenant, The Noble Dragons, The Emperor’s Passage, and the novella The Betrayal of Kelcott. Many of the characters originated during Scott’s childhood adventures, including a fictionalized version of himself known as “Scotty.” As a Bible-believing Christian, Scott writes with the conviction that his stories should honor Christ. Each book in the series carries a gospel-centered theme, with Old Covenant and New Covenant taking the characters on an extraordinary journey through biblical history. Scott is also the founder and publisher of Thrive Christian Press and The Believer’s Byline, a Christian news and publishing ministry dedicated to Christ-honoring content. After more than three decades of storytelling, Scott continues to write, believing there are still many adventures waiting to be told.
