Mia Darnell is a stay-at-home mom to three boys ages 17, 14, and 6. She is married to Scott Darnell, a US Navy Veteran. Due to the military’s transient lifestyle, she homeschooled her kids until the oldest was in his sophomore year. When the family moved to their current homestead, they decided to send all their kids to school. Mia grew up in the Philippines and has always loved writing – be it a ‘Dear Diary’ journal or the once popular slam book, and even explored script or play writing. She brought that fascination with writing and notebooks up to this day and still finds herself buying journals, planners, and notebooks. DB Misc. by Mia was founded in January 2022. The company was built in the hallways of her children’s school – from its conceptualization, research, business plan, and product creation. DB Misc. is short for Darnell Brood Miscellaneous. Its name was originally used for a personal vlogging she ventured into during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. MISSION: To bridge generational gap while preserving the art of handwriting in a fun and exciting way.
