About
Dr Techno of the Technomania Circus
Dr Techno aka Bruce Cartier founded Technomania Circus in 1999 in San Diego where we performed 10-15 shows until 2001 when the Circus moved to an Oakland warehouse dubbed The Technodrome. It is there Dr Techno met Glenn Allen, his mentor, who contributed greatly to the growth of the Circus. He performed the Flea Circus there & his creativity knew no bounds as he also created the black light ‘TechnoGod’. His inspiration was central to the continued semi-success of the Circus & continued with us when we moved back to San Diego in 2005 to our backyard underground Commercial St performance space. We were featured in various local TV stations & various printed newspapers & magazines. The cast of 10-20 of slightly paid performers were dedicated to the performing arts. After being shut down in 2011 we moved to the Victory Theatre at 2558 Imperial St where we continued for 3 more years with Technomaniacs performing usually monthly with a new show. From Vaudeville to Blacklight there was no limits to the direction & creativity. Many performers have passed thru our doors including about 5-6 who have been featured on shows like ‘America’s Got Talent.’ While we moved out of Victory Theatre in 2015 we continued to do a few small shows here & there. We’re hoping to do a few more farewell shows but our search for an appropriate & affordable venue has stymied us for now. Although Glenn Allen, aka Willy Bologny, has passed on, we are still dedicated to the Circus performing arts.
