Elle Cox

Elle Cox is a photographer and poet from Houston, Tx. Elle Cox was introduced to the art world at a young age, participating in art shows and continuing her education at HSPVA for visual arts where she matched her poetry with her visual arts. During her education, Elle has maintained awards such as 2017 YoungArts Finalist and a U.S. Presidential Scholar while showing work at multiple galleries such as the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston, the Jung Center, the Community Artists’ Collective, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, UVA’s Battle of the Sexes Revisited: The Sexual Harassment Volley of Today. Elle studied Psychology and Art as a CAPA Art Scholar (with a concentration in studio art/photography) at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. At Lafayette, Elle became a Rothkopf Scholar, traveling to Berlin, Germany for a 10-day art education experience. Shortly after, Elle studied art and psychology for a semester in San Jose, Costa Rica. Upon graduating, Elle received her BA as a double major (Art and Psychology) and graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors in Art with a Vivian B. Noblett Prize in Studio Art. Elle also studied Advanced Poetry as she continued her passion for poetry as well. Currently, Elle continues fostering her photographic career and poetry based on her psychological experience as a black woman in liminal spaces, the context of home, and the gravity of recent lived experiences.
